The stage is set to celebrate the Pilbara region at the 2016 Red Dog Festival, with free family fun over the WA Day Long Weekend (3-5 June 2016).

Karratha’s newly built residential, retail and commercial precinct The Quarter will be centre stage, with its specially designed public space set to come alive with activities and events as the official home of the Red Dog Village. 

Red Dog festivities commence at 5pm on Friday night at the Welcome when over 300 Red Dog Relay competitors and crew, are welcomed by the community with food stalls, pop-up bar and local entertainment, until 10pm.

Competitors of the Red Dog Relay set off at 7:30am on Saturday morning to complete a two-day 400km relay that will see them run, paddle, ride, swim 4WD drive and walk through some of Australia’s most stunning scenery.

Those left in Karratha can take part in the inaugural Red Dog Film Festival, showcasing the finalists of a 48 hour short-film competition and a special screening of Red Dog the movie on a huge outdoor screen at the Red Dog Village at The Quarter, with a special introduction by the film’s producer and guest judge – Nelson Woss. Red Dog celebrations continue on Sunday from 2pm as the entertainment cranks up at the Finale to welcome the relay competitors as they return to Karratha. Markets, the famous Red Dog Festival Dog Show, food stalls, a pop-up bar and entertainment by Mikey Smith, Stillwater Giants and DJ Stefanie Oddo will entertain into the night.
